What topics are covered in English Key Stage 2

In England and Wales, Key Stage 2 cover four years of curriculum for students. The curriculum adheres to the National standards, students are taught and prepared for the National Curriculum Test they will take at the end of Key Stage 2. English KS2 covers a wide variety of topics that help students succeed in the test as well as higher stages of their curriculum.

In English Key Stage 2 three main topics are covered; communication, reading and writing. In communication students learn how to speak and listen effectively using the proper English. In communication, students learn vocabulary to help express their viewpoints and thoughts. They also learn to listen effectively and ask questions to extend and follow up on ideas. They also study drama to convey stories and feelings. In reading, students learn phonetics and text recognition. They will read both fiction and non-fiction and be able to summarize the main points of a story. Writing helps students’ spelling, punctuation, grammar, handwriting and composition.
